Empowerment Through Freediving

WHY Freediving?
Freediving isn’t just about holding your breath—it’s about breaking through. It’s about stepping into a world that doesn’t always look like it’s meant for us and taking up space anyway. When we freedive, we’re reconnecting with the water, with our history, and with a part of ourselves that’s been waiting to be seen.

For us, freediving is freedom. It’s finding calm in the depths, pride in each dive, and a sense of belonging where it might not have been before. It’s a chance to strip away what holds us back and trust in our own strength, guided by nothing but our breath and determination. Through freediving, we’re building something that’s ours—a community, a movement, and a legacy that says we’re here, we’re powerful, and we belong.

At ALATIOMI, we’re diving to explore, to connect, and to inspire. This is about making space for Black freedivers, lifting each other up, and showing what it means to redefine limits. So, why freediving? Because we deserve to see ourselves in the depths, living out dreams of water, strength, and freedom.

FreedivER Meetups
Curious About Freediving? Come Through and See What It’s All About.
If you’ve ever wondered what freediving is like but haven’t seen anyone who looks like you doing it, our meetups are where you belong. We’re creating space for Black freedivers to connect, learn, and share this incredible experience from a perspective that speaks to us. In a chill, no-pressure vibe, you’ll get an intro to the basics—breath-holding, body awareness, safety—and link up with others who love the water just like you.
Why This Matters:Freediving can feel like it’s reserved for somebody else. But with ALATIOMI, it’s our world too. ALATIOMI wants to make sure those who may not see themselves reflected in the sport see themselves here, in a space where you’re welcomed, respected, and celebrated as you explore what freediving can mean for you.
What You’ll Gain:By the end of a meetup, you’ll have a better understanding of freediving, a squad you can vibe with, and that fire to take your journey further.
Introductory Freediving WORKSHOPS
Your First Steps into the Freediving World—No Water Needed

Our Introductory Workshops are all about laying a solid foundation before you even step foot in the water. In a chill classroom setting, we’ll break down the basics of freediving: breath control, body awareness, and safety techniques that set you up for success. This is where beginners get grounded, learn the essentials, and build up that confidence—all without getting wet.
Why This Empowers You:
Freediving is as much mental as it is physical, and these workshops equip you with skills that keep you calm, centered, and ready to take on the depths.
What You’ll Gain: Whether you attend virtually or in person, you’ll leave with the fundamentals locked down. This is the first step toward a new level of freedom, and you’ll have a solid foundation to keep pushing your limits when it’s time to dive. Plus, you’ll be part of a community that’s got your back every step of the way.
Future Programs
Building Deeper Paths for Our Community
We’re just getting started. As ALATIOMI grows, we’re working towards offering more ways to empower divers with even more opportunities for skill development and personal growth. Here’s what we have planned:
Certification Courses:In the future, we’ll offer AIDA and SSI freediving certification courses, giving you the chance to get formally trained, empower you with the skills and confidence to dive deeper safely. This is about giving Black divers the chance to build real credentials and make our presence known in the freediving world.
Youth Freediving and Ocean Exploration:We’re dedicated to the next generation. Our youth programs will introduce young people to freediving and ocean conservation, grounding them in confidence, respect, and pride as they discover the underwater world.

With each program, we’re building a legacy and a space where Black freedivers can thrive, explore, and make waves. Join us now for our current offerings, and stay tuned as we continue to expand.
